Baptism

It is in Baptism that we enter into a covenantal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and are welcomed into the community of believers. Parents must be members of St. Stephen's Parish. One Godparent must be a confirmed, practicing Catholic. Both must be Christian and at least 16 years old. A Parish Priest may be in contact before a baptism is scheduled.  Baptisms are usually  celebrated on the first and third Sundays at 1:30 pm.   • Baptisms are usually held on the first and third Sundays at 1:30 PM. Please call the Parish Office to schedule a date for your child's baptism.
• How do I set up a baptism?
  • Call the Parish Office at 410-592-7071 and have child's information ready.
• Do I need to take a class?
  • Classes are held on the third Monday of each month.  The Parish Office can assist with this when you call to register for a baptism.  If you have taken a class within the last 3 years, you do not need to re-take a class.
• Do Godparents have to be Catholic?
  • At least one of the God-parents must be a practicing Catholic, Confirmed and at least 16 years of age..
  • A Letter of Eligibility from the Godparent's home parish is required.
